MARYAM FATIMA FOYE
When I decided to open HBC, my goal was to leverage my capacity as an artist and arts educator, to create something cool and profitable that served people I cared about. The vision and drive was really to improve upon the culture of arts organizations, especially when dealing with youth and people of color. I was very focused on developing the organization with experience and integrity. I have made some mistakes and grown a great deal while navigating this world of creative entrepreneurship and visibility.
In short there have been some bumps in the road but I believe we are existing inside of our mission and growing in love and peace. I am grateful for every person and organization that trusts in our work, that hires us, that partners with us that sends good energy and productive criticism. Everyone who is making HBC better, that is holding us accountable to our mission. Thank you.
I hope you will all continue to find your place whether by general use of our project, the Den, through our performances or workshops. I hope to hold space for you and yours.
HBC is an ever evolving piece of art… enjoy.
With love and light,
